MILNE Bay and Central are set to start polling tomorrow in the 2013 local level government elections, Southern Region electoral manager Kila Burro said yesterday.

Burro said all logistics to conduct polling were set and teams should start moving into the wards for polling by tomorrow.

“Teams will conduct one-day polling for each ward however, a maximum of three days will be allowed for villages with larger populations,” he said.

“Each team is assigned to do polling for three to four villages and they will move from one village to the other after the presiding officer announces the winner of the ward council seat after polling and counting is completed.”

Burro said for Central, there were 70 teams that would cover 205 wards, while Milne Bay would see 77 teams covering 395 wards.

In Central, polling will start for villages along the Rigo Coast LLG, which includes Kemabolo, Kalo, Babagarubu and Karawa.

Hiri LLG will see Gaire, Tubusereia, Papa, Manumanu and Akuku go to the polls, with others in the area following throughout the polling period.

For Milne Bay, all 16 LLGs have been confirmed to start polling tomorrow.

Central Returning Officer Kila Egaba recently confirmed that there would be security and police personnel at all polling and counting booths and urged all voters to take ownership of the elections and respect electoral officials.
