SINCE the fights between Morobeans and the Highlanders at the beginning of last November, public motor vehicles (PMVs) have not been using the Malahang route frequently.
They instead have opted for the front route which runs from town through to the Bumbu police barracks, Kamkumung, Unitech and Bumayong.
And they have been charging passengers K2 instead of the regular 70t.
For the non-regulatory fare, PMV buses run directly to town and back with no stops in between.
Commuters hope that authorities such as the provincial land transport board and traffic police will come to their aid soon.
Motorists using the back road are being warned to take extra precaution when traveling through Malahang to town as it is becoming dangerous with criminals attacking passing vehicles with guns and stones.
