POLICE in East Sepik have urged business houses to install security cameras following an armed robbery at a shop at Yawasoro yesterday.
Police commander Supt Albert Beli said six suspects were known to police after they were caught on camera at the shop at around 11am yesterday.
Supt Beli did not disclose the amount taken from the cash register but said it was the day’s takings.
He said the suspects escaped by foot into the Yawasoro area.
Supt Beli praised the quick response by a security firm unit and police.
In a separate incident, another shop at the Dagua market area was robbed recently.
But police were able to identify suspects with the help of the CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras installed in the shop.
Supt Beli said the security cameras would help make police-work easier in terms of identifying and tracking down offenders.
He called on the suspects of both incidences to report to the station.
