CHRISTMAS is a time of giving as was the case at the Vision City Mega Mall on Saturday when disadvantaged children were presented gifts during the inaugural Dare to Share charity event.
More than 100 children under the care of Missionaries for Charity received gifts contributed by owners of shops at the mall and customers.
Vision City Mega Mall general manager Anderson Ting said the charity event was a way of giving back while also encouraging the people to help those less fortunate in society.
Ting said it would become an annual event at the mall with a plan to make it bigger next year to help more children.
“Vision City will pledge this as a yearly event and will be looking forward to a bigger Dare to Share event next year with the hope to obtain a greater (public) support,” Ting said.
“After all we are doing it for our people of Papua New Guinea. So let’s make it happen.”
Missionaries of Charity Sister Anto Therese thanked the mall’s management for making the children’s Christmas more enjoyable with the gifts.
The event coincided with the final drawing of the mall’s Christmas in a Box promotion. More than 55 prizes won costing around K30,000, according to Vision City marketing manager Maureen Esta.
“This is our year-end promotion called Christmas in a Box for customers to enjoy while shopping and having fun during this festive season,” Esta said.
“The customers may buy K50 worth (of goods) and above in any shop of Vision City and they could drop their receipt in the raffle box.  They will have the chance to win various package prizes.”
Esta thanked the various sponsors of the Christmas in a Box drawn in the past five weeks.
