A local businessman this week surprised two talented rugby league players with a cash donation of  K700.

It was a great surprise on Wednesday for the two local talents from Koki Wanigela settlement, who are part of the Kokoda Sports Development Programme squad to travel to Cairns for one week.

The squad is scheduled to leave on March 15.

The managing director of Clayfield Construction Ltd John Ricky handed over a cheque of K700 to players Victor Pasco and Kaia Agesi both will get K350 each. Ricky said he was proud to support the two local talents who are attending a sports programme – details of which have yet to be released – which will improve the quality and standard of their game.

He said the two players played for his team Wanigela Kavela in the Southern Region League Nines and it was fitting they were given the financial support.

Kokoda Sports Development executive Michael Ogove also witnessed the brief presentation and acknowledged Ricky’s kind gesture to the two young players. The team is training under Tuksy Karu.
