ENGAN businessman Paul Kurai is shocked and saddened by the loss of his relative, tribesman and owner of Mapai Transport Ltd Jacob Luke.
Kurai spoke with fondness of his long association with Luke on Monday, describing him as a humble and easy-going gentleman who always did things diligently and left very little undone or incomplete.
“We are good friends and brothers-in-law (Kurai is married to Luke’s sister), tribesmen and successful businessmen,” he said.
“In those good times, I found Jacob to be a reliable and easy-going businessman who did everything consistently.”
Kurai described Luke as “a modern-day example for those who struggle for self-liberation from the world of poverty and then paving the way for others to succeed”.
Kurai and Luke were recognised for their contribution to business in the country.
He added that Luke was a champion on earth and would be a champion in heaven.
Luke died at his home last week and his body flown to Lae for burial at a date yet to be announced.
