CATHOLIC Bishops Conference general secretary Fr Victor Roche is calling on the National Capital District Commission (NCDC) and the police hierarchy to ban loud music in the city suburbs. Fr Victor told The National that some nightclubs had loud music throughout the night.
“I am close to one of those nightclubs.
It is very difficult to sleep with such loud music with loud speakers facing all directions of the city.” Fr Victor said.
He said it would be better if they kept the loud music within in the nightclub.
“In some countries there is a ban on loud music after 10pm,” Father Victor said. “If they do not adhere to that ban, their licences are taken away.”
“On behalf of the churches, I appeal to the government and to the National Capital District Commission and the Commissioner of Police to put a ban on loud music after 10pm.
“It is for the benefit of all citizens of PNG, especially the clients who use the nightclubs and the public who live close to such clubs.” Fr Victor said.
