RIGO MP Lekwa Gure says Parliament needs to strengthen its committee system.
He said the nation did not need a bicameral system but a strengthened the unilateral system to make it work better.
“We need to resource the committee system well. The committee systems should have dedicated committee rooms equipped with the latest technology,” Gure said.
Gure said things which needed to change to make the highest legislative institution effective in the making of legislations.
He said the first thing to do was to observe the starting time of sessions. He urged MPs to respect the ringing of the bell for the start of a session.
He supported call by Deputy Speaker Jeffery Komal and Speaker Job Pomat for MPs to be punctual and present. He recently visited New Zealand to see how Parliament functioned there.
