THE brother-in-law of the late Scholla Kakas has called on the national government to complete the unfinished work left behind by the former president of the National Council of Women.

Pex Paki, a prominent leader in Enga and at the national level, said that on Wednesday in Mt Hagen.

He urged the government to fulfil the vision and dreams his sister-in-law had for the good of women in the country.

The funeral service of the late Kakas was organised by seven provincial presidents representing  the council of women in the Highlands and Morobe provinces.

“Scholla told me when she was alive that she wanted the government to create 22 reserve seats for women in parliament and build one resource centre each for women in the 22 provinces,” he said.

He said Scholla had left these two unfinished work when she died.

Paki said for the resource centres, he was happy for the government to step in to establish a Scholla Kakas Foundation and reserve 22 seats for women.

Paki said Scholla fought for the silent majority.

“On behalf of the family members, I want to thank Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, Don Polye and other cabinet ministers and members of parliament for their respects,” he said.

Paki said Scholla’s death united people around the country.
