Campaign coordinator accused of misappropriating K33,000 charged

A CAMPAIGN coordinator of Sohe MP Henry Amuli has been charged with misappropriating K33,000 allocated for the MP’s independence anniversary celebrations in Northern, acting Southern Region commander Assis Comm of Police (ACP) John Maru says.
Maru said yesterday that John Maiasa was out on bail and appearing before the Popondetta District Court for committal proceedings.
“Halton Unuwata, who is another campaign coordinator for the Kira LLG, had accused Maiasa of not spending all the K33,000 that was allocated to him to organise Amuli’s visit,” Maru said.
“Maiasa is accused of spending only K7,825 and misappropriating the rest of the money. Maiasa is accused of failing to do acquittals of the K33,000 given to him by the organising committee.”
