BAVA Park in Port Moresby will come alive on Saturday with the one-day Capital Rugby Union pre-season sevens.
CRU competition manager Paul Joseph confirmed that all eight clubs in the union would take part in four divisions: Under-18 men, U23 men, open women and senior men. Joseph said the pre-season sevens would have no finals and awards and was a basically an opportunity for clubs to trial players before the Invitational 7s next month.
“This weekend is all about getting the clubs prepared for the upcoming CRU Invitational 7s on March 16-17 and PNG Rugby Football Union NPC 7s on March 23-24,” Joseph said.
The competing teams are Harlequins, Juggernauts, Nova, Crusaders, Brothers, Valley Hunters and University.
Joseph urged all teams to arrive on time and be mindful of cleaning up after themselves. Joseph also called non-CRU teams who were interested to participate in the Invitational 7s next month to contact him as soon as possible.
Registration fees for the CRU Invitational 7s would be confirmed after a management meeting this week.
