Cassowaries take lead in men’s T20 tournament

WEEK one of the Curtain Brothers T20 Smash men’s cricket tournament saw Cassowaries take a commanding lead with three-straight wins.
Cassowaries on Monday beat Mudmen by 18 runs with Riley Hekure batting 40 runs not-out to help his side in their first-innings score of four for 130.
An impressive bowling game from Black Bass saw them register their first win on Monday with Damien Ravu, Charles Amini Jr and Toua Gamu taking two wickets each to end Mariners innings after 20 overs at eight for 102.
Black Bass’ Dipling Doriga batted 57 not-out to help his side reach the 102 target within 15 overs with Bass finishing at three for 103 and winning by seven wickets.
Cassowaries grabbed two wins over the Mariners and Black Bass on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Mariners — under Papua New Guinea Barramundis skipper Assad Vala — were edged out by Mudmen yesterday by 6 wickets despite Vala belting the first century of the tournament (106 runs).
