Catholic diocese gets new Bishop

THE Catholic Diocese of Goroka has welcomed Bishop Dariusz “Eki” Kaluza from Poland which is a member of the Congregation of the Holy Family.
He was ordained Bishop of Goroka on August 20 at Kefamo by Bishop Francesco Sarego who is leaving after serving as the Bishop of Goroka for 20 years.
He was assisted by Archbishops Douglas Young of Mt Hagen and Stephen Reichert Cap of Madang.
Kaluza served for 18 years as a priest in the Mendi diocese.
On the morning of the ordination, the people from Mendi took a 6km walk from the YC Hall in Goroka to the Kefamo parish grounds.
The celebration was attended by Catholics and Christians from the Highlands.
