THE Capital Basketball League started their competition last weekend at the Hohola basketball courts.
The CBL also has plans for a three-on-three challenge and the final selection trials for the national team to the Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia, in August.
The trials are expected to end this month.
But the CBL have another task awaiting them to build their capacity to ensure the courts at Hohola are refurbished to cater for the growing number of basketball players.
Coca-Cola Amatil PNG Ltd has already thrown its support behind the three-on-three competition.
The competition this weekend will see Jazz meet Tamaraws on court one, defending champions Dream Inn Exodus face Saints and Chariots take on NGCB X-Diwai on Sunday while Defence are on bye.
CBL president Moses Koiri said he was confident that he and his team could make a difference as the competition picks up  pace.
