THE National Capital District (NCD) qualifiers for the Central Province Premier League have been confirmed.
After round 12, Toks Mix Dogs, GYG Estate Kokofas and Gordon Dragons have secured places in the men’s A-grade playoffs.
In the women’s division, Koki Amazon Bay Seagulls, Goilala Karukas, Goilala Nuggets, Toks Mix Dogs, GYG Estate Kokofas, 5 Mile Okuk Watch Dogs, Gordons Dragons and Lealea Sharks make up the top eight for the playoffs.
Abau and Kairuku have yet to complete their regular rounds for the top two to be determined.
Competition director Murray Peto confirmed that the playoffs would coincide with the Independence celebrations from Sep 15-16, with the grand finals set for October.
“We will take a two-week recess to allow Abau and Kairuku to prepare for the playoffs at Murray Barracks,” he said.
Peto said all the playoffs would be staged in the nation’s capital.
“We have eight teams in the women’s competition in NCD, so it’s fair that those teams enter the playoffs to promote the sport,” he said.
“These formats are introduced to promote and develop the code in the rural setting.”
