THE Central Province Premier League has become the first league in the country to live-stream its matches, according to an official.
City Pharmacy Limited (CPL) Group business development manager William Kedea described the move as a milestone with viewership reaching more than 100,000 people across the country and the Pacific. CPL, through Hardware Haus, is a sponsor of the league.
“This is a first for us and our league,” he said. “We are now trying to promote our game.
“We now have a new concept, live streaming. There are people watching a live stream of all our games.
“We’ve had 125,884 people watch our game from Fiji, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and PNG.
“We thought that we were going to promote the game within our districts but it has also reached, Enga, Southern Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Madang, Morobe and East New Britain.
Kedea said while live streaming was a fairly new concept for the league, it was a good way of communicating and exposing talents
