THE Central Province Premier Rugby League is looking to gain recognition from sponsors to lift the standard of its players in the Hardware Haus Agarobe Cup.
The league is now aiming to promote itself after receiving sponsorship from City Pharmacy Limited (CPL) Group’s Hardware Haus and Central Governor Robert Agarobe.
CPL business development manager William Kedea said the league provided players for Digicel Cup side Central Dabaris.
‘’Under the PNG Rugby Football League, we have the pathway at the village and district levels,” he said.
“From there they make the Digicel Cup, SP Hunters and the Kumuls. CPPRL is a pathway established for rural-based talent to showcase their skills in the Agarobe Cup before they are selected for the Central Dabaris.
‘’We have teams from Abau, Rigo, Hiri East, Hiri West, Kairuku, Koiari, Goilala, Aroma Coast and Amazon Bay. We select the best from their competitions to play in the Agarobe Cup. The cream of the CPPRL competition will be selected to form the Dabaris squad to play in the Digicel Cup next year.’’
