SENIOR officials from the Central administration were the first group to visit sporting venues in Mendi in preparation for this year’s PNG Games.
Deputy provincial administrator (social services) Michael Uaiz, deputy administrator (economic services) Glen Gani, community development adviser Henry Kavana, Insp Lua Kingsley from the Central police command and media officer John Iamo are in Southern Highlands on a fact-finding mission to inspect and assess sporting venues, secure accommodation, logistics and transportation for Team Central to participate at the games.
Uaiz said Central was the reigning champion of the PNG Games and was happy to go to Mendi for the upcoming games.
“We wanted to come first to see for ourselves, the infrastructure of the sporting venues, transport, logistics and accommodation and go back and start preparing our team, we intend to bring 250 to 300 athletes, including technical officials and management team,” he said.
Uaiz said a report would be presented to Governor Robert Agarobe and provincial administrator Francis Koaba on how well the games venues were prepared and what was needed.
