Chamber elects new business leaders

Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and industry elected its new executives at its recent annual general meeting.
Re-elected president Rio Fiocco, the principal of Fiocco Nutley Lawyers said: “It is a good mixture of youth and experience, and a good blend of Papua New Guineans who will to take senior roles in the Port Moresby chamber.
“The chamber will continue to advocate on behalf of businesses in the nation’s capital.
“We are also going to continue our very popular programme of having senior executives speak to the business community at our regular breakfast.”
Other officials are:

  • Vice-president, Peter Goodwin, CEO of Remington Group.
  • Treasurer, Akae Beach, principal for Beach Accounting and Advisory Ltd.
  • Secretary, Michael Henao, principal legal advisor of Digicel Group.
  • Committee members include Ian Clough, Chetan Chopra, Lynn Walsh, Vani Nades and Janet Sios.

Fiocco said the chamber of commerce was about promoting business interest of private businesses, furthering economic development in Port Moresby and promoting membership of small businesses.
“We are also looking forward to have a business summit next year to be held in Port Moresby,” he said. “It will be catering for all businesses other than mining and petroleum, because they have their mining and petroleum summit in Sydney.”
