GENDER equality is a challenge in resource development in the country, says Chamber of Commerce district programme officer Terrence Baio.
He says it is a pressing issue that the chamber wants addressed.
“There must be equal participation of men and women in the society,” he said.
Baio said the growing number of established community learning development centres in Transgogol needed to be aware of that.
He said a combined effort from men and women including youths to construct the resource facility was a start.
“I assure you all that business studies training will be carried out in this centre to teach every one of you the knowledge of how to set up and manage your own businesses,” Baio said.
He said locals should be blamed for the growing Asian businesses in the province.
Women-in-business rep Manim Setu urged women and girls to grasp opportunities offered at the Kein One resource centre.
“It is time the community must recognise the hardships experienced by the women and children. A lot of the times services do not reach them especially in the rural areas,” she said.
She said Women In Business would show their support and run trainings for women in the area.
