Champions workshop set for weekend

HIGH Performance Sport PNG will hold its champions workshop tomorrow in Port Moresby.
The purpose of the workshop is to inform all national sporting federations about programmes and services available that the federations can tap into.
HP programme manager Suluet Tarasomo said HP had a lot to offer to the national federations which could benefit them with their preparations to international events.
“The workshop is like a refresher course because people in our national federations often change with new management so they need to know what services we provide and what our main vision is,” Tarasomo said.
“We see that a lot of sports don’t really understand what HP does but we’ve run some workshops previously so they’re beginning to get the idea why we are here as an established arm under the PNG Sports Foundation,” she said.
“The 2019 Pacific Games is coming up and the national federations need to understand what High Performance can provide.
“We are mandated to support Team PNG, and with the various international sporting events coming up, we want to market our services out to them so we can all work together in preparing our teams.
The Sports Vice-Minister Wesley Raminai and PNG Sports Foundation CEO Peter Tsiamalili Junior will attend the workshop.
The objective of the workshop is to ensure that sporting federations achieve the best possible results not only for the upcoming games but in their lead up activities as well.
The workshop also aims to maintain a good working relationship with the national federations to have agreements so their sporting codes have access to HP’s services.
HP is expecting around 39 national federations to attend the workshop.
