THE University of Goroka (UOG) is set to conduct its orientation next week with registration the following week, chancellor Joseph Sukwianomb, says.
“Orientation week will start on Monday, Feb 12, to Friday, Feb 16, to be followed by registration of students from Monday, Feb 19, to Friday, Feb 23,” he said.
Sukwianomb said the selection of every student to University of Goroka was determined by the results of compulsory entry tests conducted by an Australian-based independent agency.
Sukwianomb said the agency set, conducted and marked entry tests and graded the results without the involvement of the university.
He said 6000 students sat for this year’s entry tests.
Sukwianomb said the university had centres and campuses in some provinces to accommodate students who could not gain entry to the main Goroka campus.
“I encourage students to enroll at the university centres in Honiara for eastern Pacific Students, Port Moresby for Southern region students and Mt Hagen for Highlands region,” he said.
“We also have UOG study centres in provinces where students can enrol to study.”
University staff met last week to discuss plans to expand its study programmes throughout the country.
Sukwianomb said University of Goroka was planning to insure the lives of students, staff and council members.
