Change attitude to see change

Letters

THE Independent State of Papua New Guinea was a colony of Australia till Sept 16, 1975.
On Independence Day, a premature Papua New Guinea raised her flag to be an independent state.
Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare was a primary school teacher, politically elevated to be the first prime minister.
There was no engineers, geologists, doctors, lawyers, no surveyors, economists etc… in the house of assembly at that time.
There were no educated natives to advice the government to design its future.
Those leaders from pre-independence till 1997, had zero knowledge to design PNG’s future to fit the western civilisation and global community.
PNG had jumped from stone age into the digital age and was on the crossroad engulfed with vacuum.
PNG had no choice and ran back to Australia to hire advisors for inflated costs.
Australia came and designed PNG’s future and it became a blue print of Australia.
PNG had never designed her future for her best interest till today.
However, from a borrowed legislations, our colonial leaders took us with little knowledge this far.
Then, when our degree holders went into top positions they have corrupted and crippled the government system.
That’s why Prime Minister James Marape have said our forefathers have started very well with little knowledge but today’s generations have lost this pride somewhere along the line.
The major problems that inflicted PNG elites by the devil is lust and greed.
Leaders and people don’t care about their families, tribes and the nation.
Lawlessness is happening everywhere.
Our law enforcement agencies are not performing to the expected standard.
Whom are we going to blame for all these mess?
We need to change our attitudes individually if we want to see the changes.
If not, PNG will be buried into all kinds of holes created by our selfishness.
