A MAJOR supermarket in Port Moresby, RH Hypermart, gave disadvantaged students from Tembari and PNG Life Care programmes something to cheer about this Christmas.
The children were taken to Paradise Cinema at Vision City for the treat.
RH (Rimbunan Hijau) Trading Ltd general manager Cheng Chooi Ang said the initiative was organised to give back to the less fortunate members of the city.
“This is the time of the year again when we are joined together to bring happiness to children,” he said.
“This is a time for sharing what we have in our own simple way to show that we truly care.
“By this simple event, we would like to inspire children what Christmas is all about.
“It is all about loving, sharing and caring.”
Ang said the event was made possible through their executive director Nathaniel Ho with the managements of RH Trading Ltd, Vision City and Paradise Cinema.
Around 135 students from Tembari and PNG Life Care were able to watch a Christmas-oriented animated feature “Frozen” as well as getting confectionery and drinks.
“Arranging children from two care centres to watch at Paradise Cinema is something we do every year. It is a good way to bring such children together and give them a Christmas treat.”
Ang said they would visit the Tembari Care Centre on Saturday at ATS settlement to distribute food and other items for the community.
He said they would also run a blood donation drive on Dec 12 for the Platinum Medical Centre.
Founder and director of Tembari Care Centre Hayward Sagembo thanked RH Hypermart for its continuous support since 2010 which had brought joy to the children of the two programmes.
