CHIMBU Governor Michael Dua and Kundiawa-Gembogl MP William Onguglo have committed K500,000 to fix the road from Kangir village to Bandima, connecting to the main Kundiawa-Gembogl road.
Dua committed K200,000 on behalf of the Chimbu provincial government while Onguglo made a commitment of K300,000 on behalf of his District Development Authority (DDA).
They visited Kangir in Kundiawa-Gembogl last Saturday.
Both also agreed to improve infrastructure at Kangir Primary School, Kangir Technical and Vocational Centre and Kangir Health Centre.
Dua said the people deserved the best and the provincial government believed in partnership with MPs and their district development authorities, churches, donors, non-government organisations and communities to deliver services and change the lives of people.
“Our people here usually carry their produce and walk during night using torches to get to the main Kundiawa-Gembogl road where they can catch PMVs to market their produce in Kundiawa Town.
“Then they carry back the goods and whatever they bought from town.
“We also have the schools and health centres who are facing similar problem which is a sad reality. That’s why we will partner to fix this road,” Dua said.
