Chimbu recovering assets

ANY person who has allegedly taken over Chimbu government assets will be dealt with accordingly, says acting administrator Sebastian Kee.
“Chimbu government assets illegally held by unauthorised people will be reclaimed and illegal custodians charged,” he said.
Kee pointed these out when he formally launched an assets recovery team in Kundiawa last week.
He said the team will focus in four areas; identification of assets like cars and heavy machineries; identification of government land, public service housing and investments.
“If these assets are in the wrong hands, we will recoup them, police will deal with the illegal custodians,” he said.
“Like provincial government housing.
“If we find out that people who are occupying those houses don’t deserve to live there, we will ask them to vacate those houses.
“If investments are in the wrong hands, we will recoup them.”
Acting provincial police commander acting Supt Epenes Nili commended the provincial administration for taking this action.
“I, as the PPC, give my support and we will recoup all assets in a legal way and in a timely manner,” he said.
“It is my appeal to the people of Chimbu to cooperate,” Nili said.
Nili said the Chimbu government, under the leadership of Governor Noah Kool, launched the “take back Kundiawa” programme and this initiative of the administration was in line with this effort.
The commander said he would appoint experienced and qualified police personnel to help the assets recovery team to identify, investigate and also make arrests where necessary.
