Kerowagi apologises to Paita over election-related issues

LOCAL MP Kikin Francis, representing the 93,000 people of Kerowagi on Monday, reconciled with Finance and National Planning Minister Rainbo Paita by cutting fresh sugar canes — the Chimbu traditional ritual to end rivalry and tribalism.
Francis facilitated the reconciliation ceremony to eliminate any ill-feeling Paita may have harboured over an attack he experienced at Kerowaghi during last year’s election campaign. Francis said it was an unexpected incident when some drunken persons attacked Paita.
“The district is sorry for the incident and sincerely apologise to Minister Paita,” he said before Paita spoke.
Paita accepted the apology and said: “Your kind gesture is much appreciated.”
Francis presented an undisclosed amount of cash, a cow and a pig as well.
