Chimbu’s kickboxers hoist team to fourth place

TEAM Chimbu dominated in kickboxing winning five gold, two silver and two bronze medals pushing them to overall fourth in the 2017 PNG Games.
Kickboxing sports competition manager Kaupa Omena and PNG Kickboxing president Stanley Nandex applauded Chimbu for their success in the code.
In the 61kg male division, Charlie Kwiwa fought hard to win gold, Daniel Bruno in the 70kg settled for bronze, Joe Bruno in the 76kg snatched silver, Jovi Bal in the 80kg won gold, Kelly Naru in the 86kg won gold.
In the women’s division, Chimbu’s Shirley Buro in the 57kg won gold, Brenda Bruno in the 64kg won gold while Agnes Mua in the 67kg won bronze.
Overall, Chimbu finished fourth with 30 gold, 22 silver and 21 bronze medals.
“In other kickboxing results, home province West New Britain did well too by winning two gold, three silver and five bronze,” Omena said.
“Morobe finished with two gold and two silver, East New Britain with two gold, one silver and two bronze, Milne Bay with two gold and two bronze, AROB with one gold, five silver and two bronze, NCD finished with one gold, one silver and three bronze while Eastern Highlands won one gold and one silver,” he added.
