Cang said with good relationship between the two countries over the years, establishing direct flights would ensure more people-to-people relationship and growth of business activities.
“Guangdong province has the largest population in the country and it has close ties with Papua New Guinea and the Pacific islands,” he said.
“Now we are planning to establish direct flights to Port Moresby starting in December.
“With the opening of direct flights between Guangzouh and PNG, we can expect more people to people exchanges and the greater prospects for business developments.
“This is a secret but we want you to share the news with more people and we are really looking forward to this.”
Meanwhile Cang welcomed 20 journalists from nine Pacific Islands countries attending the exchange programme which started last week.
The journalists visited Chinese historical sites, industrial areas and local newsrooms in Guangdong.
