A PIONEER United Church in Morobe raised K74,945 during its annual Boubou (thanksgiving) on Nov 5.
Despite poor weather early in the day, the sun came out for the nine fellowship and seven ministry groups of the Lae United Church on Malaita Street. The church not only celebrated the thanksgiving but also marked the church building’s 40 years of existence.
Outgoing congregation chairman Totona Heni acknowledged everyone that attended for the double celebrations.
“Today marks the toil and sweat of the year we have been through,” he said, adding that it was a joyous occasion filled with music and dances.
“We have worked hard, pressed hard, and today is the day we bring the fruits of our work to give back to God.
“Thank you for all your contributions that has helped spread the work of God here in our congregation and in Morobe.
“You are not giving it to me or to the pastor of the congregation but to God. And God will bless your hearts as you continue to serve Him here in our church.”
Heni also thanked congregation members and Rev Terry Nigani and Marama Gomara Nigani for their hard work and united efforts in serving the church and spreading the Word of God.
