Chinese docs educate PMGH staff, patients

Chinese doctors earlier this month educated staff and patients of the Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) on the cause of chronic kidney disease and oral cancers.
Dr Wen Yan and Dr Wang Can, from the 13th China Medical Team organised, the first patient education and training activity at PMGH on April 12.
They delivered specialised lectures on chronic kidney disease and oral cancer to patients and their families, receiving high praise from the local medical staff and patients.
Wen shared with those gathered how they could identify chronic kidney disease and how to prevent, or slow, its progression.
Wang used images to demonstrate the onset and symptoms of oral cancer.
He explained how to prevent oral cancer and identify it early.
The training programme planned for 10 sessions on prevention of chronic kidney disease, cancer prevention, early self-recognition of cancer, how to slow down the progression of chronic kidney disease, and the management of blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
The goal is to integrate health education into daily medical practice, providing patients with relevant knowledge and skills training to improve their health and self-management abilities.
