Christians told not to compromise with worldly things

A SENIOR pastor says Christians must maintain their integrity with the Lord and not to compromise with the worldly things that will have negative influence and effect in life.
Southern Highlands Christian Outreach Centre (COC) provincial chainman and Kaupena COC senior pastor Alex Koyaiye said this during service last Sunday.
“It is now the season when your faith will be tested during the general election and as Christ followers, you must maintain your integrity with boldness, confidence, courage and hold on your faith in God,” he said.
Koyaiye based his preaching on Daniel 1:1 -21, the story about Daniel and his three friends who were taken to be looked after in king Nebuchadnezzar’s palace with special food and training.
Koyaiye said: “In this story, Daniel knew he was in captive and must do what Nebuchadnezzar says but he took the risk not to compromise and defile himself with the food from king’s kitchen.
“Be sure not to compromise with the defile food and drinks from the kings’ kitchen.”
“This is so that when the screening time comes, you may not be disqualified and be stripped off from God’s glory and presences you carry as His vessel.
“It is important to know that whatever you decide to do in life now will determine your future to be prosperous or disastrous and chaotic,” Koyaiye said.
Koyaiye said the power of choice God gave people was very important and must be used wisely to make reasonable decision to experience their purpose in life.
“Your decision to eat from which kitchen will demote or promote you and also know that a lot of things in life you may need will be provided in this testing time and whether you deny it or accept it, is up to you,” he added.
He then quoted Joshua 1:7 -9, ‘Be strong, courageous and be careful to obey all instructions of Moses and do not deviate from them, turning either left or right, then you will be successful in everything you do’.
“Do not be afraid for the Lord your God is with you everywhere you go. This indicates that we are not alone because God is with us.”
“He is leading us to fulfil his purpose for his own glory and not a single person will stand in our way,” he said.
He said God honoured Daniel and his friends for making the decision not to eat and drink from king’s kitchen for three years before they stood in front of Nebuchadnezzar for screening.
