THE aim of the new Lutheran Church hierarchy is to restore the lost image of the church and create stability, head bishop Rev Jack Urame says.
He said this yesterday in the hope of unifying the 1.5 million followers of the church and restore its image which has been tainted in the media recently.
“As the head bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, I want to assure Lutherans that the new church executives were working together to create stability and bring back the image,” Urame said.
“I want to encourage the church members to embrace their Christian faith and stand firm when the church is faced with many challenges.”
He said the Lutheran Church has gone on a media trial about its internal issues and has wasted a lot of time arguing and politicking instead of concentrating on improving the work of building the church and promoting the Gospel.
“Arguing in the media and in courtrooms over church issues (like the constitution, Lutheran University, Lutheran Shipping, leadership and management) leaves no room for progress,” Urame said.
“I want to inform that this was over and we have started a new journey now.
“The new executives were joining our hands together and working as a team to move the church forward.
“We maintain our solidarity with one voice because we want to provide a different taste and quality of leadership. Maintaining our solidarity is the first step and we have achieved this in a short period since taking office.”
Urame, from Dom in Sinasina, Chimbu, said their aim was to create stability in the church administration so that all church matters flowed smoothly.
“We have a clear objective to rebuild the damages and were determined to address the issues.”
