SERVING pastors and ministers of the West Port Moresby Circuit of the United church (UC) will have a new house following the commissioning of a house project by the circuit.
The house will be built on the UC mission grounds at Metorea in Hanubada village.
The project is part of the church’s vision to extend the ministry under the theme “Breaking new grounds”.
The new building will complement the old circuit residence.
Superintendent circuit minister Rev Oika Gabutu, when officiating the launch, said the project was a revelation of resilience and strong commitment by the congregation in God’s service.
“The west Port Moresby circuit is the first and oldest in the Southern region,” he said.
“It has produced many ministers who have served – some have passed on to be with the Lord.
“This new project will replace the old residence which was built in the late 1970s.
“It will serve to accommodate ministers, a circuit office and a meeting hall.”
Rev Gabutu acknowledged the commitment and contribution of the congregation’s ministers, circuit and church staff to raise funds for the project.
“Despite the circumstances before us, God’s blessing hand has always been there and through him, all things are possible.”
The launch was witnessed by ministers of the eight congregations in the circuit including church staff and members.
