THE Catholic Church has conducted its first Sunday service at a fighting zone in Western Highlands in order to bring the warring tribes together for peace and restoring services.
The service was held at its Mun parish in Dei, which was affected for almost three years following a fight between the Kimka and Rolgoka tribes over the ownership of the Dirty Wara Coffee Plantation.
The fight claimed more than 50 lives since 2019.
The celebration of the service is one of the first signs that the people are ready for peace and to come back together as a community.
Dean of the Hagen Central Denary Fr Robert Nolie said pastors and Christians from other denominations in the Gumanch area also attended the service.
He said the service was also attended by the Catholic Archbishop of Hagen Dioceses Douglas Young.
Fr Robert said the service touched the lives of many people in the area.
He said representatives from both warring tribes attended and delivered speeches.
