THE Keregia Lutheran parish, in Finschhafen, held a service two weeks ago to dedicate to God 58 children between the ages of one and six.

The parish is in the Satterlberg circuit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Kote district.

The parish is located on the border of Sialum, in Tewai-Siassi, and Kote, in Finschhafen.

Pastor Steven Biabia said the service was special because it was to dedicate, recognise and welcome the children into the Christian faith.

Biabia said the children would not be baptised until they reached nine.

Biabia said children must not be left out of the church because they were the souls of Christ and needed to know the Kingdom of God too.

People from six congregations in the parish attended the dedication service.

The mothers dressed in white walked to the pulpit and pledged to raise their children in a godly manner.

Church leader Rev Beka Kosieng shared the word of God and said the mothers were blessed because they had obeyed Jesus’ command.
