Church group partners consultancy firm for new building

A CHURCH organisation in Lae has partnered a consultancy firm through a grant agreement to build a new church.
The agreement was signed between the Kamkumung-based faith organisation Apotiko Seventh-day Adventist elders and Milaru Consultancy director Tom Milaru. The agreement will see donor agency, the Christensen Fund, assisting the church with K413,260 to build a new church.
Apotiko Seventh-day Adventist elder Jack Namampa told The National that the congregation and elders had struggled over the years to build and expand the church building to cater for their numbers.
He said the church had managed to do improvements from time to time and had hired an architect to design a building they could build over the existing structure, which would cost K300,000.
Namampa said the challenge was to source the funding, including the payment for the building plans. He said they partnered Milaru Consultancy to source the funding.
Milaru said his company did a feasibility study and came up with project proposal, which they sent to donor agencies.
The Christensen Fund agreed to fund the building, however, because of Coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions, were unable to sign the grant agreement, and Milaru Consultancy signed on behalf of the donors.
Milaru said the Apotiko church was one of five recipients of donor funds in Morobe.
