Church leader reminds teachers to follow ‘teacher Jesus’

CATHOLIC Church educators in Port Moresby have been challenged to follow the example of the “one true teacher”, Jesus Christ.
Fr John Curtis, the parish priest of the St Joseph’s parish in Boroko, Port Moresby, said during the annual teachers commissioning mass that teachers should be good role models to children.
He told them to start the new academic afresh with determination to serve from the heart.
“Especially in these trying times of the pandemic, teachers are second parents, caregivers, cultivators, and motivators,” Fr John said.
“As a seed is planted in the dirt to grow, students are in this dirt of pandemic, the latest novelty of obsession of social media likes, and other negative influences,” he said.

  • I’d really love the message for teachers by this church leader. I am from a Catholic background but finds out that the catholic agency schools nowadays do not follow the church code but follow a new code which is a political code, which is used for teachers appointment. That is especially for Manus Province. Most teachers either heading or are at agency schools are not qualify. But because of political influence to the CES the position is given to them. I wish CES who are doing that should be terminated as it paint a bad picture of the church.
