THE Waigani National Court has dismissed an appeal by a firm against a decision of the District Court which ordered that one of its terminated security guards be compensated for unpaid wages.
Justice Nicholas Miviri dismissed the appeal of Jeno Aeno and Kai Aeno, trading as Namona Investments Ltd (appellants), as being without merits and ordered that the Port Moresby District Court orders on March 23, 2018, be enforceable.
The respondent, Abraham Jack, was employed by the appellants as a security guard from Dec 7, 2016, until Sep 7, 2017, when he was terminated. Jack instituted the proceedings in the District Court to recover unpaid wages from the appellants.
He successfully secured the order on March 23, 2018, exparte (a proceeding where only one party is present) for the judgement sum of K8,945.08.
