Church partners local govt for early childhood education

THE Education Department has signed an agreement with the Morobe government and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG to focus on early childhood education.
They agreed to train early childhood teachers at Ellsberg in Finschhafen, Morobe.
Among those present were Education Minister Joseph Yopyyopy, Education secretary Dr Uke Kombra, Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu, Morobe administrator Bart Ipambonj and ELCPNG head bishop Rev Dr Jack Urame.
Yopyyopy said he would be working with the provincial government for the good of education in Morobe.
“I thank ELCPNG for their services to education in the country and all other churches who are partnering with us in education,” he said.
“First year of early childhood education are children at four years of age and we need skilled and qualified teachers to nurture them at an early age.”
Saonu said: “Let’s start at this point and in the future, PNG will be better with well-behaved citizens.
“The education system now created liabilities in this nation so let’s correct this mistake.”
