The United Church Morobe Circuit raised more than K166,000 during its Thanksgiving Day on Sunday at Cassowary Road United Church in Lae.
A total K166,078.30 was raised, beating by K1118.30 the set target of K164,960.
United Church congregations within Morobe Circuit attending the Thanksgiving were Wau, Bulolo, Ramu, Emmanuel, Puakab, Cassowary Road, Taraka and Lae.
Circuit ministry groups Sunday School children, youth, men’s and women’s fellowship also participated.
“United Church Morobe Circuit is a family church,” said chairman Michael Gaoma.
He said highlights of 2018 calendar year for the circuit included church restoration work, and three new ministers settling into their responsibilities at Wau, Cassowary Road and Lae churches.
Finschhafen church, established in 1987, was a priority for the circuit.
“We have tried our best to address renewal of structures and operations of Morobe Circuit,” Gaoma said.
Gaoma said the church could not be run like it used to be 50 years ago.
He said executives had put in place a proposal for a five-years strategic development plan for the circuit starting from 2019 to 2023.
Gaoma encouraged all congregations to contribute to the draft development plan. The plan will be launched next year.
