Church re-elects officials

THE Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG has for the first time re-elected its three top officials for four-year terms during its synod in Morobe. Head Bishop Rev Dr Jack Urame, Assistant Bishop Lucas Kedabing and Church Secretary Bernard Kaisom were re-elected by big margins.
Seven candidates contested the three positions. Urame beat Rev Elymas Bakung 349 to 148 votes Kedabing beat Rev Gedisa Okamaisa 390 to 111 votes.
Kaisom beat candidates Hans Gima and Jephtah Gerinde to be re-elected church secretary. Each of the 17 districts of the church had a voting delegate of 30 members.
Urame thanked the church members for having faith in his leadership of the church.
