City authority plans to get house in order

THE Lae urban local level government (LULLG) in the first three months of this year will be looking at getting its house in order, says city Lord Mayor and Lae City Authority (LCA) chairman James Khay.
“The very first thing that we will be looking at is the administrative matters that we have to put in place before other major areas can be looked at during the year,” Khay said.
He said one administrative matter that needed immediate attention was the revenue generation of LULLG that had to be put in place and should be functioning effectively.
Over New Year’s eve, a new city manager was appointed by the Morobe nominating and selection committee.
“While working alongside the new city manager and LCA, the LULLG will have to identify and strengthen its revenue-generation sources and spend according to the budgeted areas for the benefit of the people of Lae city,” Khay said.
He said with the help of Lands and Physical Planning Minister and Lae MP John Rosso and Governor Ginson Saonu, better decisions would be made to utilise funds on areas that needed immediate attention.
“So in the first quarter of this year, we will look at strengthening our financial capabilities and other administrative matters first so that we can implement much-needed services effectively for the benefit of the city and its people,” he said.
Khay invited all Morobe MPs to contribute constructive ideas to help the LULLG and LCA in their functions.
