THE National Capital District Basketball Association is gaining supporters’ interest as it heads into round six at the Hohola courts tomorrow.
The Under-12s and U15 competitions have seen teams exhibit their improving skills with players looking to play structured basketball.
Association president Kevin Teme said he was pushing clubs to do their part for junior development by having U12 and U15 boys and girls teams along with the A reserve and A grade teams.
Teme said club affiliation fee was K500, with player registration fee of K5 (U12), K10 (U15), K15 (A Reserve) and K20 (A Grade) and the deadline for payment is mid next month.
Teme also encouraged coaches to register with K20 as a requirement to mentor U12s and U15s which would enable them to attend workshops conducted by Basketball Federation PNG.
“This competition is likely to be the foundation of PNG Men’s Basketball League as they have not introduced junior basketball development in their schedules,” Teme said.
The NCD Basketball Association will run for another 12 rounds (to Rd 18) before the finals in April before the national U17 championships.
