THE final round of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League regular season kicks off tomorrow with competition leaders Lae City facing third-placed Vitiaz United in Port Moresby (3pm kick-off).
If City avoid defeat at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium, they will claim the minor premiership ahead of second-placed Hekari United, who face the Tusbab Stallions at Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium tomorrow.
Vitiaz will be keen on bouncing back from two-straight losses.
“We just need to stay focused, Vitiaz are a good side and we need to win this game because they beat us in round five.
“So we have a score to settle against the hosts.”
Morris said they were expecting the return of defender Alwin Komolong.
City skipper Emmanuel Simon and Jacob Sabua are expected to lead from midfield with Stahl Gubag and Obert Bika up front.
Vitiaz’s Yagi Yasasa and Eliud Fugre are expected to lead their charges with leading goal-scoring pair Jonathan Allen (12) and Mathew David (10) to test City’s defence. Meanwhile, a tussle for fourth spot will see the Stallions attempt to cement their place for the finals.
Hekari will be looking to put their best foot forward as they prepare for the finals.
Fifth-placed Gulf Komara will be counting on a Hekari victory while they try to beat Star Mountain for a top-four finish.
