MINOR premiers Rabaul Gurias will use the week off to polish up on their defence as they prepare to face Lae Tigers next week in the Digicel Cup major semifinal.
The Gurias led Waghi Tumbe 18-0 at halftime on Sunday but failed score a try as they conceded three unanswered four-pointers in the second half.
Despite winning the final round 20-14, coach Marcus Kaugla said his side needed to improve on their defence ahead of next week’s clash.
“We really need to work on our defence,” he said.
“We started well against Tumbe but we didn’t contain them in the second half.
“That is something we have to work on because we want to be consistent throughout the game.
“There were some unforced errors as well. We have highlighted these little things.”
The Gurias boast the best attack and the second-best defence this season.
The are aiming for their 10th grand final appearance.
