A NEW product to protect glass screens of vehicles and buildings has been introduced to Papua New Guinean markets.
The new 3M Ultra S600 Safety and Security Film was launched last Thursday at the New Guinea Footwear (NGF) Ltd headquarter at Gabaka Street, Gordon.
The product is a transparent plastic film, which is applied on vehicle and building glasses to keep them from shattering from impacts like bomb explosion, stoning and other external forces.
The product is manufactured by the 3M Company and is distributed by NGF Ltd.
During the presentation, viewers were invited to take turns at hurling rocks at the samples of ordinary car glasses that were coated with the transparent, tough plastic film, and the result was fascinating – the rocks bounced back.
General manager for 3M, Greg Cobert, recommended the product as one of the latest safety material for counter terrorism and burglary.
He said many embassies worldwide and the military used the product for their safety.
An officer in charge for traffic in NCD, Chief Insp Michael Kanguma also commended the product as a deterrent for car theft in cases where glasses were smashed to gain entrance.
He added that it would also save cost in the event that a windscreen was accidentally hit by hard objects.
The product is thin and easy to apply and is recommended for application on vehicle windscreens, glass walls of buildings and other machinery glasses.
