THE Lae Football Association is getting ready to host the Momase leg of the annual Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) sanctioned Besta Cup competition.

Games venues have been confirmed at the LFA Grounds and Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium, which have been upgraded recently and are in good condition.

All accommodation, transport  logistics to and from games venues and security have been sorted out. Competition chairman Roy Kamen, who is the Lae association’s vice president and city manager, said committee members appointed to the various tasks had done well in preparations for the games which run from August 11-15.

The involvement of Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Iven Lakatani and Papua New Guinea Defence Force Lieutenant Colonel Michael Banda as part of the local organising committee will ensure the best possible security arrangements for participants, spectators and the public throughout the four-day event.

The registration fee for new participating association teams will be K1500, while those who have been in the competition in the past will pay only K500.

“With all the successful delegation of tasks, the heads of the host association met with national football representative Siegfried Beschel Jnr and briefed him last Saturday on the preparations and presented the required funds to run the competition,” Kamen said.

Participating teams are expected from districts in East Sepik, West Sepik, Madang and Morobe.
