A JUNIOR basketball competition is expected to tip off every Sunday mornings at the Taurama Aquatic Centre starting at 8:30am with the Under-10s.
The Port Moresby Basketball Association, headed by Lawrence Lahari and John Vere, is holding trials with about 200 children attending the first session on Sunday.
The divisions expected to feature in the competition are U10 Mixed (8am), U13 Mixed (8:30am), U15 (9am), U17 (10am), U21 (11am) and A-Grade (12pm).
“Played on three courts, these are the timings for the juniors,” Lahari said in a statement.
“The need for junior basketball ball is evident with the first trials taking place last Sunday. Children flocked to the centre as early as 8am to have a go at the sport.”
This week, Lahari will be writing to interested schools to take part.
This Sunday will see the last trials before a break over the Independence period and will resume competition there after.
