THE International Training Institute (ITI) celebrated its annual Founders Day at the Rita Flynn Sports Complex in Port Moresby on Friday.
The day saw students and staff participate in a mixture of sporting events and activities to commemorate the institute’s co-founder, the late Sentheyval Thuraiappa.
Late Sentheyval’s son and co-founder of ITI, Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval was pleased with how students and staff around the country celebrated his father’s legacy.
Kumaran, who is also the ITI chairman, said the day was to allow ITI centres throughout Papua New Guinea to come together and socialise through sports.
“Sports is a good way for staff and students to get together and know each other better,” he said.
“Not only does it help people to meet each other but it keeps them healthy which is a good thing.”
He added that the core reason to celebrate Founders Day was to create an atmosphere among students and ITI staff to share the vision of ITI in the country.
Every year in the month of August, ITI centres throughout the country celebrate the “ITI Founder’s Day” to commemorate the Late Sentheyval’s dedication, hard work, commitment and vision towards the betterment of Papua New Guinean students.
